Melo Wants to Restore Comelec’s Credibility

Commission on Elections new Chair Jose A. R. Melo declared himself physically fit for his job. He said that his main objectives were to pursue automation in the 2010 presidential election and to restore credibility in the scandal-wracked Comelec. At the age of 75, he said he is not yet too old to run around the country to attend to the back-breaking task of ensuring clean elections and that this was why Ms. Arroyo sent him to the Comelec helm.
